What do you learn from cultural diversity course

First of all , cultural diversity is a course which helps to learn about the social life and the economics of the country , also it may help the people to know how to deal with the other people with different nationality .

In this course with Mr. Gerogry we took so many topics which talk about the cultural diversity , the first lesson in it was important to me which talked about (what does it mean to be Emirati) , I liked this topic , because it let me talk about my country , and did so many research to know more things about my country in the past . Also in the other lessons we talked about so many things , like the benefits of the cultural diversity , this lesson help me to know why it’s important to have a culture diversity in the country , I learned that cultural diversity helps the country to improve , for example the different in nationalities helps to get a lot of ideas that may make a great thing in the country . This course also help me to know about the gap year , I learned that the gap year helps me to improve my skills , depend on myself and to build up my personality.

I’m really happy because I took this course because , it let me know a lot of things that it will help me in the social life also to know how to deal with people with different nationalities .

Exercise #8

Obama
Obama was talking about cultural diversity in America and the different types or groups that he mentioned to work together which are black, white, poor, rich, able, disable, gay, straight, Asian, Spanish, Native American, young, and old. These groups of people will help to produce more and push America to further more to the highest levels. In Obama speech, he relies on some delivery action and ways. People who attended the speech felt very hopeful to Obama by these types of delivery which have an emotion. One of the most ways is his voice. He tried to start with lower voice then started to increase slowly until the end. He also depended on eye contact to the audience which was very helpful for him. Another good way is body language. He showed some body language like hand movement with good voice. These delivery actions made the audience feel like Obama is part of them which was very clear in the whole speech

Exercise #7

Compare Cambodian and Emirati values

There are some few things between the Emirati and Cambodian traditions and the things that they normally do it .

Traditional Cambodian values include a strong family identity and loyalty, also the Emiratis have the same thing . The tradition in the UAE is to respect the older people , the Cambodian tradition is the same . In UAE the families solve their problems together , they accept a help from relatives , in the special events the families be together and stay together . the Cambodians traditions also have the same thing about the families and the special events . But there are few things that it’s not the same as the Cambodians, like the women in Cambodia relate to their husbands family name ,but in UAE no it’s not the same , the women doesn’t change her family name .

Reflection #4

The Benefits of Travel and Taking a Gap Year

So many people takes a gap for a year to do many things that’s help them to improve them skills in studies and their social life . They improve their studies by going to a poor country or a country with a poor skills of studies or the English language of them is not that much , they went there and teach the students the basics and vocabulary of the English language and that’s make the one who teach feel a big of responsibility , and that helps the person to get a self confidence .

Now a days the Emiratis are not interested in the gap for a year or even six months , because I think they don’t know about the benefits of it . In after few years I think they may know about it , and I guess there are so many young people might do this . Me as an Emirati person I would like to do a gap for six months , its maybe a new thing in my life , and I think I will get a lot of benefits . If I will get a chance to do it I might go to Australia , to know how they life and the English language of them is different than the American , also to know their culture and how they think , this may help me to improve my skills and make a lot of information .

I think in the future the Shaikhs in UAE will encourage the young people to do a gap for a year or six months to get more benefits .

Reflection 3

Discrimination

Discrimination is happening now a days in so many places , but in the last 20 years and before it was a big problem between black and white people. Nowadays the people now are open minded and learned . But still there are people who deal with this problem .

When I was kid for about 7 years old , I went down to play football with a children in my age , they were a Christian kids , I wanted to play with them , when a asked them if I can play they said to me get out of here you are a Muslim we cant talk to you or play , our mothers will grounded us , stay away from us . I didn’t know what to do at this time , I went back to home and tell my father about that , he explain to me what happened and told me to stay away from them . I was very sad because of this , but my father told me that its fine and after few years the children will know how to take their decisions and of course it will be ok with them to communicate , play and deal with the Muslim people .

In the end , I think that we are all people so we have to be good with each other and don’t hate each other , and try to make our life more beautiful
